▲ The Pre New
First there was World Of Twist, then there was Earl Brutus, then came the glam rock, neo disco, synth pop, post punk of The Pre New.
After a recent session on BBC 6 Music for Marc Riley, The Pre New are doing a warm up show for Idle Fret and they will be be doing a very special set indeed. One which is totally different from the shows they will be doing at their upcoming festival appearances this summer. They will also be bringing The Pre New Sound System with them for a bit of a DJ set too.
"The Pre-New are modern not post modern. They are a sonic snapshot of 2012 in all of its glorious mundanity. Resplendent in Polo Ralph Lauren yellow and pink, taking potshots at civic art, Foxtons The Estate Agents, text conversation abbreviations and Susan Boyle. They are rock stars. They eat Mars Bars. They are a band for our times" - The Quietus.
▲ Chips For The Poor
Chips For The Poor come from Estate.Death.Camp.London and are official endorsers of the Shergold Masquerader guitar and Keio Mini Pops Junior drum machine.
They have a new single out now called Fistula, which was recorded by Bobby Conn and in our opinion it should be a number one jam at the top of the pop charts!
Chips For The Poor are coming down to play at Idle Fret, fresh from their recent BBC 6 Music session for Marc Riley.
"Drum machine-aided Fall-esque rambunctiousness" - Rough Trade Shops.
"The sound of two worlds colliding" - Marc Riley, BBC 6 Music.
"Beautiful" - Tom Ravenscroft, BBC 6 Music.
"Vampire Weekend meets The Butthole Surfers. It's a hit!" - John Kennedy, XFM.
"This single is a killer. Loved it the second I heard it" - Jon Hillcock, New Noise.
"Their anti-fashion punk is so much fun" - Loud and Quiet Magazine.
"It just gets better and better with every play" - The Line of Best Fit.
▲ All We Are
A heady mix of alternative folk and psych tinged pop...
The Liverpool-based trio All We Are provide gorgeous three part vocal harmonies and kettle-whistling guitars that softly float over flowery basslines and hypnotic drums, they offer a kaleidoscopically spinning soundtrack to a reoccurring psychedelic daydream…
"Fabulous" - Marc Riley, BBC 6 Music.
"Thank God for All We Are whose dark, sprawling atmospheric tunes sound genuinely vital" - Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music.
"Elevated our Autumnal elation. Packed with soaring, syrupy harmonies but tinged with some Bat For Lashes-style bleakness" - The Fly Magazine.
