Post are purveyors of the hot garage-pop sound of Glasgow/Manchester.
We are very pleased they are coming down to London to play for us at Idle Fret!
Post were born in a basement in Partickhill, Glasgow. There the group toiled with a couple of guitars, a drum kit and a makeshift synth for just long enough to get a rough outline of their sultry, darksweet and wholly petulant garage-pop sound together, before trying it out in a few venues around Scotland and the North of England.
Part of the We Can Still Picnic collective, Post began regularly playing WCSP nights around Glasgow and soon went back underground, this time to the basement of the Admiral bar. Here they hosted and held residence at their own club, Looselips, with the help of DJ, artist and older lover Dougie Morland.
This and a New-Deal scheme earning them a few days' recording at the fabulous Green Door studio helped buff up the Post sound, and the band went on to get a bunch of songs down in a flurry of sessions in late 2011 with the track Monument to a Lost Cause pt.1 featured on the Mao Disney, Fluxing up the Aesthetic comp in March 2012.
2013 will finally see the release of more spoils from these sessions in the form of the mini-album primer, Cavalcade which is out now.

The Wharves sport some startling duel vocals, courtesy of Gemma Fleet (ex Trogons and Kasms) and Dearbhla Minogue, which hang gracefully over a minimal rock format.
The Wharves invoke the reverberated spook of 60s girl groups, The Roches, the mid-fi guitar crunch of Kim Deal's The Amps, and the narrative and structural panache of Steeleye Span's progressive folk.
Marion Andrau's thunderous drumming ensures the wealth of disparate influences remain focused and celebratory.
